Maker Spotlight – Get To Know The Face Behind The Brand.
Meet Niesha from xoxo, bijou. Niesha resides in Atlanta, GA and started her business in November of 2019, but she has always made earrings for herself and family, just not on this scale. She finds inspiration in anything bright, fun, colorful and from lots of patterns. The older she gets, she feels like she doesn’t have to be so serious all the time, life is too short not to be you or express yourself. Niesha is the Queen of DIY, even if it’s cheaper to just buy it! She loves to decorate parties and events and do crafts. When she is in maker mode she loves to watch shows, crime documentaries, and listen to music, in no specific order just however she is feeling that day.
xoxo, bijou specializes in big, bold and colorful polymer clay earrings. She offers a wide range of statement designs in a variety of hues. When I wear Niesha’s earrings I feel like no one can tell me anything! If you are nervous about wearing large earrings, give hers a try. They are comfortable and she offers clip-ons if you prefer that to a post. Niesha happily accepts custom orders and her website is located in her IG bio.
Here are some words from Niesha:
-What made you want to start creating?-
“I actually started out of a need for myself. Unfortunately I can only wear clip-on earrings. It’s really hard to find a pair that even looks close to decent. I’ve always had to convert regular earrings that I could find in the stores. And that hard job in itself lol. So I scrolled on Pinterest and came across polymer clay and was totally blown away. So many possibilities ran in my mind of how I could use this for myself. I figured there’s other people looking for bold statement earrings as well. All my designs are available in post and clip on.”
Would you like to share any family info? Pets?-
“Yes I am actually a grandmother of two. Mars 3 and Ella 2 from my daughter who’s 26. I also have a son who is 23. I’m older than people think I am lol. 46 to be exact.”
-What is your MOST FAVORITE item you have created?-
“Probably the Monstera earrings because I always want to be somewhere tropical enjoying the breeze lol.”
-What makes your shop unique? What is your specialty?-
“I don’t necessarily think it is unique but my jewelry lets you make a statement on your ears. Without coming out of your comfort zone too much. Everyone doesn’t like to make bold statements in their outfits, but on the ear it still shows they are fun and exciting.”
-What is the story behind your business name?-
“It’s a name I thought of way back in 2011, when I first started trying to make jewelry. It just kinda popped in my head with no special meaning lol. Still thinking about changing it someday.”
