Maker Spotlight – Get To Know The Face Behind The Brand.
Meet Charlotte from The Goode Karma Co. Charlotte resides in Frazier Park, CA and has been making in general since she was a little kid. She is autistic and gets anxious if she isn’t doing something with her hands – bonus points if that thing feels productive! Knitting and crochet ended up morphing into polymer clay jewelry back in August of 2020. Charlotte finds inspiration from her grandma’s house. Her grandma is the master of thrift finding and has decorated her home with so many beautiful stained glass pieces. She loves creating pieces that mimic colors and textures that her grandma has in her home. When Charlotte isn’t creating, you can find her tabletop gaming with her husband. Board games like Magic the Gathering, RPGs like Monster of the Week and Dungeons and Dragons — you name it, they have probably played it! Charlotte always has True Crime podcasts on while she is making.
The Goode Karma Co. specializes in fun, bold and unique earrings and necklaces made from polymer clay. She offers studs as well as statement pieces on her website. Charlotte gladly accepts custom orders and you can find her website link in her IG bio.
Here are some words from Charlotte:
-What made you want to start creating?-
“I honestly have always been so drawn to visual art! I’m a professional violinist so sound art is something I create daily. I’m pretty terrible at drawing, but sculpting from clay and creating pretty colors and effects is something that just kind of works for me!”
-Would you like to share any family info? Pets?-
“I have the most incredibly supportive and amazing husband in the world, as well as two floofy kitty children, Berlioz and Primrose.”
-What is your MOST FAVORITE item you have created?-
“Hands down the Rhiannon earrings! Big, celestial, and overly complex – right up my alley!”
-What makes your shop unique? What is your specialty?-
“I love working with translucent and light based effects as well as creating ultra dangly earrings! The more little components the better (although I always end up regretting that while sanding and drilling the sometimes 30+ pieces I need for each pair!)”
-What is the story behind your business name?-
“Well, my last name is Goode and being the dork I am I knew I’d have to do some sort of a pun! I’m all about the karmic balance of the universe and since I want to use my art to put good karma into the world, I just decided to add a pun to that philosophy!”
