Maker Spotlight – Get To Know The Face Behind The Brand.
Meet Elise from Hello Edie. Elise lives in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and has been creating for 10 years. Her girls inspire her to work hard and give her all to her business but she is also inspired by nature, color, texture, shapes, architecture…so many things! She typically starts with a color palette and just gets on Pinterest or looks through books and magazines to get ideas and inspiration for her designs and collections. In her spare time she enjoys apparel design, barre classes, cooking, book club, and bike rides at the beach! She lives a few blocks from the Gulf of Mexico. When she is in maker mode she enjoys listening to audio books, music and her guilty pleasure…Real Housewives!
Hello Edie specializes in polymer clay statement earrings in a variety of abstract shapes and colors. You can also find hair accessories and apparel on her website. Elise happily accepts custom orders and her website is located in her IG bio.
Here are some words from Elise :
-What made you want to start creating?-
“I’ve always loved fashion ever since I was a little girl. I loved dressing up in my mom and grandmother’s clothes, shoes, and jewelry, flipping through fashion magazines and wearing my grandmother’s vintage Schiaparelli hats. I went on to study apparel design and designed and made women’s clothing and swimwear after graduating college. It wasn’t until I interned for a jewelry designer in New York City that I realized my passion for designing jewelry. So I switched gears, moved back home and started making jewelry and I’ve never looked back. It’s also allowed me to be a working stay at home mom with my two little girls. I couldn’t ask for a better job!”
-Would you like to share any family info? Pets?-
“I am married to my college sweetheart, Will and we have two little girls, Colette and Everly. I love teaching them to create and they love making jewelry with me! I started this so that I could still have a career and a creative outlet, while also getting to be home with them. It’s definitely hard some days, but we make it work! My husband works full time as an engineer, but also runs all of my marketing, web design, and accounting for the business! It’s a group effort for sure.”
-What is your MOST FAVORITE item you have created?-
“One of my favorites would be the Cecilia drops. They’re so ethereal and pretty but also make such a statement and they are by far a best seller!”
-What makes your shop unique? What is your specialty?-
“I make a lot of statement pieces in neutrals and colors. I use a lot of textures and unique shapes.”
-What is the story behind your business name?-
“It’s an acronym for my name.”
