Maker Spotlight – Get To Know The Face Behind The Brand.
Meet Mallory from Glitter & Clay Creations. Mallory resides in Troutdale, Oregon and has been making their beautiful earring creations for a little over two years. They draw inspiration from their daughter. They want to show her that you can do anything you want, you can make your dreams reality if you work hard and never give up, and that you can make something you’re passionate about a career if you choose. Mallory enjoys singing (mostly in the shower or car), making macrame things, going on hikes/adventures with friends and cooking. When they are in maker mode, they watch/listen to A LOT of true crime & conspiracy podcasts on YouTube. If they want to watch a show, they usually throw on Schitt’s Creek or watch Jurassic Park or Jaws if they’re in the mood for a movie.
Glitter & Clay Creations specializes in earrings made from polymer clay that can also contain glitter, crystals or metal accents. Their designs are bold, yet wearable. Mallory gladly accepts custom orders and their website is in their IG bio.
Here are some words from Mallory:
-What made you want to start creating?-
“I struggled with very severe postpartum depression and anxiety and needed a creative outlet to get all my nervous/bad energy out. It helped me cope with a lot of dark times, and being able to see people wearing my creations gave me such a sense of purpose that I knew this is what I was meant to do.”
-Would you like to share any family info? Pets?-
“I have a 2 year old daughter and an amazing husband who are my biggest fans, I love them more than anything!”
-What is your MOST FAVORITE item you have created?-
“Ohhh that’s a hard one…. It’s a tie between “The Luna” and the pride rainbow knives!”
-What makes your shop unique? What is your specialty?-
“My specialty is statement pieces. But I think something that makes my shop unique is that even though my big thing is statement pieces, I also make pieces that anyone and everyone can wear & incorporate into their daily lives.”
-What is the story behind your business name?-
“One day I was talking with some friends and trying to figure out a good business name, I was going with “earringsbymal” when this was just a fun hobby, so when I decided to make it a serious business I wanted a good name. We were just tossing ideas around, we knew it needed to include the word “glitter” because I use a TON of sparkly clay in my pieces. After a few minutes of throwing names around in our group chat, one of my friends came up with “Glitter & Clay Creations” and when I heard it I just knew that was IT, that was my business.”
