Maker Spotlight – Get To Know The Face Behind The Brand.
Meet Kenya from Clay and Caridad. Kenya resides in South Portland, Maine and has been creating her earrings made from polymer clay since May of 2021. She is often inspired by nature and artwork. When she isn’t creating she loves to go hiking and cook and when she is in maker mode, she loves to watch TV. Some of her favorite shows are Handmaid’s Tale, 90 Day Fiancé, New Girl, and Insecure.
Clay and Caridad specializes in bold and colorful polymer clay earrings. Kenya happily accepts custom orders and her Etsy store is located in her bio.
Here are some words from Kenya:
-What made you want to start creating?-
“I really wanted and needed a creative outlet. One day I bought a DIY clay earring kit from Etsy because I just wanted to see what it was like. Ended up falling in love with the process and continued with it!”
Would you like to share any family info? Pets?-“I have a very supportive partner and a senior Rescue Beagle named Sadie.”
-What is your MOST FAVORITE item you have created?-
“Right now, my most favorite items are my flower earrings. So far I have sunflower & chicory earrings. This answer changes with almost every batch though!”
-What makes your shop unique? What is your specialty?-
“One of a kind designs – I really try to think outside of the box and see things that I haven’t seen being done already. I really love making different abstract slabs, as well as detailed pieces.”
-What is the story behind your business name?-
“Clay for polymer clay, and Caridad because it’s my middle name!”
