Maker Spotlight – Get To Know The Face Behind The Brand.
Meet Kelsey from Acorn and Artisan. Kelsey lives in Hedgesville, West Virginia. She started her creative business in 2018, but she was mostly making artwork and functional art. In 2020 she transitioned to jewelry, which is now what makes up most of her shop. She finds inspiration in everything from colors she sees outside to fabric patterns she gravitates towards. She finds inspiration for pieces everywhere. When Kelsey is not making, she loves to cook, bake, go on hiking adventures, and spend time at the lake. Listening to Janis Joplin radio on Pandora or Today’s Hits on Amazon music helps her get in the zone while she is creating.
Acorn and Artisan specializes in unique and colorful jewelry that can consist of polymer clay, resin and/or metal. Kelsey’s shop also offers stickers, paper goods and custom t-shirts. She gladly accepts custom orders and her website is located in her IG bio.

Here are some words from Kelsey:
–What made you want to start creating?-
“My husband and I had a long road to starting a family. In 2017 after months of trying and seeing negative test after negative test we were linked up with a reproductive endocrinologist. By early spring 2018 we had started doing IUIs and then in 2019 we did IVF. Before we started the IUIs my sister had suggested I find a creative outlet to help manage my stress. I continued to create throughout the IVF process, through our many transfer cycles, and now create in hopes of building a business my little can be proud of one day.”
-Would you like to share any family info? Pets?
“My household is made up of my husband, my little girl, our 3 dogs and 2 cats. It’s constant chaos but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
-What is your MOST FAVORITE item you have created?-
“Oh gosh, that’s a hard question! My favorite would be my mermaid dangles, though. I have a resin only set that has a resin piece with blues and greens and also a clay set with a blue, marbled piece and resin on top. Both combine gold, rose gold, and a stone piece in design.”
-What makes your shop unique?-
“I focus on making bold pieces that are unique and a little bit funky. My personal design style is often quite bold so I try to make every piece stand out either in color or by design. My shop specializes in clay jewelry, resin pieces, stationary, and even some ice dyed products.”
-What is the story behind your business name?-
“When I decided to rename / rebrand my business I really wanted a name that included my little love. Her name means oak tree. When I was talking with my mama she suggested Acorn (for my little) & Artisan (for me). I fell in love instantly and designed my logo to include her bunny, who she sleeps with every night.”
